  • Facebook Fan Check Application Virus

Just as last week, the facebook fan check application virus rumor is making the rounds again. And also just as last week people searching for information on the facebook fan check virus are running into some of the top search results hosting malware. There were several attack sites up last week when I saw this search in heavy duty hot trend mode and it likely is the same this week.

A word of caution – if you visit a web page that promptly pops up a full screen drawing of my computer or the like and claims to be running a scan on your computer it is probably faked.

  • Windows Police Pro

Yes folks, it’s Windows Police Pro, the gift that keeps on giving apparently. It’s crawled back into Googles top searches tonight. If you want to see how to remove it look at Windows Police Pro Removal, you may be interested in Who is behind Windows Police Pro and probably will need to visit the virus tool removal list. The worst trick this virus plays….

  • Remove Personal Antivirus

Personal Antivirus is another of those rogue antivirus programs. They claim to protect, but really their goal is to find ways to separate you from your money. Usually this is through false claims of infected files and a “we’ll fix it, if you pay us” sales model. Apparently it’s almost identical to Internet Antivirus Pro and General Antivirus. Cut from the same cloth I guess you could say. It (as the others) creates false reports of phantom infections on your system and then offers to clean them up for a cost. Nice huh? It sees invisible villains and can get rid of them for a fee.

  • Remove Antivirus Pro 2010

Antivirus Pro 2010 is another rogue security application that installs itself by ways of security vulnerabilities. This particular one seems to be installed by the braviax(cru629) family of trojans. It’s related to PC Antispyware 2010, PC Security 2009, and Home Antivirus 2010. It essentially claims that your pc is unprotected and makes false claims about infected files. Pleas do not send any money to the makers of these pests.

  • Finallyfast.com Removal | Ascentive PC Speed Scan Pro

Oh I cringe at those commercials. You know the ones I’m talking about where everyone is whining about how slow their pc is. Wah…. “Mom this game is so slow.” I just LOVE how they mention that their parent company ascentive has been featured in several major publications. (Osama Bin Laden has been featured in many publications too, that isn’t exactly an endorsement.) Well, last night I thought I’d go and look and see what people were saying about this magical mystical piece of software and I wasn’t really surprised to find them being roasted right and left.

McAfee Site Advisor has apparently recently moved the site from the bad guy to the good guy column and is catching all sorts of heat from visitors for that. Many claim that there are browser exploits being served up from their pages. It was on Spyware Warriors list of rogue applications although it has been removed. (Users may note that the removal from the list isn’t equal to an endorsement either.)

    The kicker…

  • Facebook Fan Check Virus

There’s a rumor going around and a lot of unconfirmed information that a facebook application known as fan check is actually a virus. I’m seeing several claims that if someone becomes a fan of this facebook app (which the page claims is undergoing changes and currently unavailable)… well if someone becomes a fan in the meantime their friends will all be notified of the app, password on the account changed, etc. I’m a bit skeptical at this point because EVERYTHING I see seems 3rd party and I don’t see anyone claiming that THEIR account was compromised. What I DO know is that some of the top search results are known malware attack sites. For instance the second result (which was the top result a few hours ago….

  • How to Remove Nortel Antivirus | NortelAntivirus Removal

Nortel Antivirus is another of the recent rogue security applications making the rounds. One thing that makes this rogue antivirus application unique is it’s attempt to play on the trust of the Norton Antivirus branding and icons by presenting a similar themed antivirus package and name that really doesn’t measure up. It installs by means of trojan or other vulnerability exploits and claims (as they all do) a laundry list of problems that can be fixed on your computer. Infected files, etc. really aren’t infected and as usual they are after your payment for this scareware.

So let’s take a look at how to remove nortel antivirus.

  • How to Remove BlockDefense | Block Defense Removal

Blockdefense is yet another of these wolves in sheep clothing that make some computer users lives so miserable these days. It is from the same group of malware that includes Trustninja, save soldier, and savedefense. These are part of a group of rogue antivirus programs that are part of the WinGuard group of related malware.

Like so many of these it encourages users to buy based on trumped up fears about files that it claims are threats. (Which it created on the disk.) So, here is how you go about removal of blockdefense

  • AntivirusOnlineScan 6 v8? the next Rogue?

I see a google hot trend right now is searches for AntivirusOnlineScan 6 and many of the results seem to be incoherent sites talking about antivirusonlinescan v8. It makes me wonder if we’re seeing the rumblings of the next big rogue security software push. Sure enough http://antivirusonlinescanv8.com/ is flagged as an attack site and has been registered in the last 2 weeks. Fortunately the server is not responding right now. I guess we’ll see tomorrow if it’s the next big thing in rogue antivirus.

  • How to Remove SystemCop | System Cop Removal

Yes, it’s another rogue antivirus package that causes all sorts of headaches, popups, false warnings and yes, you have to pay to solve the problems it claims to find. Essentially the software, when installed creates lot’s of files that on scanning your system it “discovers” and claims they are a threat. It seems like everyday there is another of these programs that is a rogue security or rogue antivirus and I guess the flavor of the day is SystemCop. I have seen reports that this rogue application is in the same family as BlockDefense, SaveDefense, Trust Ninja, WiniBlueSoft, WiniFighter.
