  • Developergo linux Livecd review

The thing I love about linux livecd’s is the ability to try before you make much of a commitment. You can boot, test, evaluate, and then reboot and be back at your usual desktop as if nothing has happened. (With emulators like QEMU and VMWare you don’t even have to reboot the PC.) There are a lot of Developer tools under linux, but until now I haven’t been aware of a distribution (livecd or otherwise) that is emphasizing those.

  • Make panoramic pictures with a digital camera (or any other)

There’s another great article at newsforge this evening. I remember seeing some time back a camera which took panoramic pictures. The photographer would hold it steady over his head and the camera would slowly circle around to get a 360 degree photo. In fact I think I remember seeing a large group picture where someone played with the idea and ran around to be in the picture twice.

  • Open Source Word Processor Roundup

Newsforge has a comparison up of three open source word processors. Abiword, Kword and the beta release of the write component of OpenOffice.org 2 are compared in this review. • Windows XP on Qemu roundup

So here’s the sumup of my (now working and with plenty of free space) Windows XP install within QEMU. Well, for starters the XP disc I had was an upgrade disc and as I noted before it did not like the media I provided as proof of upgradability. So, I wound up having to go the really long route… The Windows98 SE install would not upgrade to XP for me. Bad install errors that were dealt with by knowledge base articles, but the KB fixes did not solve the problem.

  • Sunbeltblog on how Microsoft can make a Bloggers day…

I’ve been reading the sunbeltblog lately and they have a post related to this latest virus outbreak which is right to the point. Most corporate desktops run Windows 2000 as opposed to Windows XP and Microsoft has been less than “charming” in their response to the issue that many businesses have had with Zotob.
