New User Guides for Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva

As I was searching online this weekend for something ubuntu related… I ran across this nice reference Wiki…. ubuntuguide.org. They’ve got a good Ubuntu new user guide and also a few things Mandriva and Fedora related. The site is done wiki style so you should be able to collaborate if you have suggestions (although they require login it appears due to wiki-vandalism.) Anyway, looks like a good guide, fairly new-user friendly.

Really, documentation, guides/how-to’s and books are an area that open source software is really lacking on. How many learning Excel books are there? How many – learning OpenOffice.org Calc? I REALLY think there’s a great opportunity there. (As well as community college style courses. “Using OpenOffice.org Writer”) Of course, my preference has (for a LONG time) been that courses like that teach how to use a Word processor or a spreadsheet, other than a specific companies word processor or spreadsheet. But as the UI has become so complex for such software, I guess it’s necessary to specialize somewhat.
