Multi-OS virus?



The multi-OS virus may be a proof of concept, but it could be a sign of bad things to come. Let’s face it, there have been viruses that have taken advantage of multiple ways of spreading (email/open network shares/instant messengers…) It would almost make sense that even though it’s POC…. it may be quickly incorporated into future virus strategies….


There are exploits out that sniff for browser version, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see in the future quite sophisticated viruses that… check the operating system, version, software version that’s it’s attempting to infect and choose the “best” payload for what it sees. Now that Apple Mac is moving from PPC to Intel I suspect we may see Mac in the crosshairs more and more (generally software compiled for one hardware platform doesn’t work on another platform (ppc versus intel for instance…) That much said – I don’t want to claim anything impossible…)
