Microsoft May 2006 patch Tuesday updates

Now that the April patches have been patched…. it’s time to look forward to what updates we’ll be seeing from Microsoft this coming Tuesday May 9th… There are 3 expected updates for May, 2 for Windows and one for Exchange Server. The Exchange update is listed as critical as is AT LEAST one of the two Windows patches.

I’m still a bit gun-shy with the updates after seeing one user having big problems after last months update for Windows Explorer that essentially prevented him from running a backup until it was uninstalled (it would open windows explorer to define backup profiles…) It MAY have caused the loss of the preconfigured backup profiles (although that could have been coincidence) and prevented him from doing My Computer browsing.

When patches go bad… Anyway, let’s hope these have had thorough testing (or come with a warning that they may eat your homework…)
