  • Kindle Buyers Remorse? Do I regret buying a Kindle?

    For the record…. no. Not in the least. I bought a Kindle 3 in December and have been using it quite a bit since then. Of course, the first few weeks I used it an awful lot. (It was around the Christmas holidays of course.) I haven’t had as much time in the last month or two to just sit and read, but when I have it’s been better than having a book. Why?

    It’s smaller, yet it holds my entire library.

    Well, not technically my ENTIRE library yet, but it does hold quite a few of my books (a couple hundred.)

  • Android based iPad killers….

    I spent a bit of time lately drooling/browsing through the many different android based tablets/pads there are. Why not the ipad? I don’t know – I just don’t particularly like the idea of being tied to Apple…. having to acitvate with itunes – being restricted to the apple app store. I like that android is more open (in many different ways.) So… I saw a lot of cheap entries from China. None of which really impressed me much. It looks as though the real ipad killers are on their way later in the year 2010. One is the viliv x10 tablet with a 1366×768 screen, 3d graphics. SD card, usb, capacitive touch screen. (Some of the cheaper competitors are resistive touch screen which is not seen as sensitive. The cheaper alternatives also seem a bit underpowered processor wise. (Or may lack gps or the accelerometer – both of which really seem (to me) essential parts of a tablet system for all of the neat “killer app” possibilities.

  • Nokia 770 Internet Tablet (Linux based)

    The Nokia 770 linux based Internet Tablet will have it’s US debut on November 17th. The details on hardware specs on the device are available at linuxdevices.com, and there’s a news forum available at internettablettalk. I highlighted the tablet a few weeks back, but there was no specific date for U.S. release. The device will use a debian based Linux distro called Maemo and will sport around 3 hours battery life with continuous wi-fi usage. The price is ~$359.

    It looks as though Nokia has a neat looking tablet pc that runs linux and is designed to be an internet appliance of sorts. Web browser/email/net radio/pdf viewer and a few other software tools you’d expect. An 800×600 screen, wifi and bluetooth. It looks to be priced around $350 It will be titled the 770 Internet Tablet.
