Boot discs

I’ve been using a site the last two days that I thought others might find useful. If you don’t know about it already, it’s bootdisk.com. They have available for download all sorts of Dos, Windows and Linux boot discs.

I’ve been immersed with trying to get a workable XP install into a QEMU virtual disc image. This site has come in handy. It has boot discs for most every major (and minor) version of Windows as well as various DOS antiquities…. Very nice and beats trying to build your own custom Windows 95 B boot disc with a working cd driver. Their section on linux boot disks is sort of lean. (No mention of Toms Root boot that I can see.)

Of course the world of Linux boot disks is a bit more varied in that many distributions installer disc can act as a rescue disc and there are countless livecd’s out there to help with system rescue functions.

All in all, a great resource to have in your links and I’m adding to the sidebar in the right hand side.
