  • Mambo exploit

The sans institute (incidents.org) is warning of a Mambo exploit making the rounds. Full disclosure and security focus have more details. No word on this point of workarounds… Mambo, of course, is an open-source CMS (content management system.)

  • The check’s in the mail

Of course, there was a time when delivery of many things relied heavily on the US Postal Service and the blame of a delay could be passed along. I saw an article lately about people using technology to do tricks like that, turning back the clock on their computer before answering emails, getting sounds for their cells phones that sound like passing traffic, or a subway, etc. This strikes me as pretty silly. But there are some legitimate reasons, especially when posting to a web page when you might want to go ahead and type something and have it show up at another time, or as having come out earlier. • Bank of the west notice (sigh)

Well, how long ago was I talking about phishing attacks? Just a few posts back it seems and in my inbox this evening was the above subject line. • Migration to new CMS

As you can see I’m in the midst of a migration to a new CMS tool. Right now I’m using wordpress which is normally considered a blogging tool. Frankly, I was reluctant to look at a blogging tool in part because the concept has such a trendy feel to it. Truth be told, technically the way I’ve envisioned (and at times implemented) updates to my sites have been in the style that these days is not too far from blogging. At this point I’m fairly impressed with wordpress. If you’re interested in learning more, there is likely a link at the bottom of the page, or you could try this link www.wordpress.org

Old content will be migrated from the old layout and at somepoint this new portal will likely be made active.
