Sunbeltblog has a flurry of posts today. This one muses on wireless networking (in)security. One of the points that they make is that there are “acceptable” levels of security depending on your circumstance. In other words, if you’re miles from nowhere and feel comfortable with WEP (which is breakable) fine.

Google Talk on Linux using wine
Ok – so I’ve been looking at Google Talk all evening and thought I’d try it out. First, it will not run on Win98, only 2000, XP and 2003 are supported. It installs using crossover office (4.2) and starts. You get to see the main login screen. On any button click there is an internal error and the program vanishes.

Believe it or not, there’s already a review avialable of the yet to be announced Google Talk CLIENT. I have done a couple posts talking about the fact that some people have been able to access talk.google.com with Jabber compatible messengers. This review is of the official Google client that will be released.

Google Talk update – Instant messenger service already live
I found a post at slashdot that Google Talk is already live. Earlier in the day there was talk (sorry…) that they were using Jabber. It looks like this person has found a way to login with his Gmail address and password and is (using a jabber compatible client) logged in to Google Talk.

The rumor mill is in full swing as USA joins in to report that sources are saying that Google Talk will be launched as early as Wednesday. They suggest that it will be instant messaging AND voice messaging.

Disappointing trend for online banking sites
Given how easy it is for people to be fooled by phishing sites, you would think banks would try and keep as many “easy ways to identify a legitimate bank site” as possible wouldn’t you? I mean, user-friendliness is certainly a big selling point in things software and even web site related so you would think banks would make it easier for those that are visiting to identify if they can trust that the site they’re visiting REALLY is a bank site.

Google Adsense plugin for Firefox
Wow, was that 24 hours? After noticing that Google had changed somethings related to adsense, I mentioned that the adsense plugin for Firefox had quit working. This afternoon I discovered that the adsense plugin for firefox has been updated to work around the change.
