Trademark issue over Microsoft “Vista”
I can’t help but be a bit amused, but there is one (maybe 2?) business that’s not. According to this article a small company called Vista sells business software and services. They’re looking into their options regarding their name with regards to Microsoft, who has decided to name their next OS release “Vista”.
It’s funny, not too many years ago Microsoft took on Lindows (now Linspire) a small linux distribution over the name “Lindows” as being confusing to customers and infringing on their trademark. Ultimately, the strategy seemed to be “death by a thousand lawsuits” as suits were filed in every market Lindows attempted to enter. I would think this small company may have a better case. But, on the flip side. I wonder if this wouldn’t give them a bit of added publicity?
