This is the time of year that we start thinking about that monumental trip Santa Claus makes around the globe on Christmas Eve. There are lot’s of neat ways to track his progress online. One of my favorites in recent years has been the Norad Santa tracking site. Last year they were using Google Earth for the tracking. Tracking Santa Claus online
In the spirit of the day before Christmas, I’ve come across a couple links to help you track Santa Claus’ progress around the world. First up the Google Blog points out that you can track Santa with their Google Earth software. They have a link here that will open in Google Earth –UPDATE Christmas 2006–This years link for the Google KML is here. (if installed. Google Earth is a free download and requires hardware video acceleration. The other link is a web browser based tracker… Norad has been doing this for a few years, this years version is at this link. The Santa Worm
More coverage is being given to the instant messaging worm that poses as a come on for a Santa Claus related site today. The only thing I think that I left out in last nights post was the name of the bug… IM.GiftCom.All On visiting the advertised site a rootkit is installed on the visiting machine.

IM worm acts as a come on to a Santa Claus site
According to Information Week, there’s a new IM worm out hitting the MSN, ICQ, Yahoo and AIM networks. It poses as a come on for a Santa Claus site. On visiting the site, users receive an unexpected “present” a rootkit which is hidden.
