The July web browser market share stats show a slight decline for Mozilla Firefox, the first decline since it’s 1.0 launch around 9 months ago. ITFacts is reporting that according to statistics from Netapplications, IE has 87.2%, Firefox 8.07%, Mozilla Suite 0.52%, and Opera 0.49% of the market. (No Safari?)

Mozilla Firefox passes 80 million downloads
According to the counter at spreadfirefox.com, Firefox has now surpassed 80 million downloads. (Well 80.1 million when I looked.) Version 1.0 of Mozilla Firefox was released ~9 months ago.

Anti-phishing tool
I had run across a link that netcraft was trying to combat phishing schemes and I didn’t have time for a detailed look at the time. I’ve since revisited and found their Netcraft toolbar. I’m impressed, it installs in either Internet Explorer (under Windows), or Mozilla Firefox (all platforms.)

Web browser statistics
In the last week or two, I’ve been playing around with a slightly different stat package for the individual sites, North Carolina Genealogy, South Carolina Genealogy and this site. Since it’s a new stat package, I’ve spent a good amount of time checking the stats to see just what browsers visitors are coming from, which ip blocks (local/distant), which search terms they’ve used to get here, etc. etc. One of the things that has surprised me is (more…)
