Aliph Jawbone II Bluetooth Headset

A couple of years ago I was given an aliph jawbone bluetooth headset. It was really convenient for using the phone without having to hold your cell phone up to your ear. Unfortunately it was stolen and when I went to replace it I found that the only available from the company was the jawbone II. Now, initially I read about the Jawbone II and it sounded like a disappointment after the first one. But, went ahead and ordered and found my expectations were surpassed.

I’ve used the jawbone II for about a year now and have found the volume levels to be comfortably flexible (although I wish you could alter the volume while you’re in the voice dialing mode. Since the same button is used to activate/cancel voice dialing and set the volume I’m unable to adjust the volume until I’m in a call. Which means if I’m doing voice dialing in a noisy environment I may not be able to hear the phone clearly when it says “did you say call home?” Since I have several names that are fairly similar this has led to some unexpected surprises when I hear who picks up the phone…. But thats more a voice dialing issue.

What prompted me to write this up today is something that happened yesterday. I had my earpiece in (with a silicone earbud adapter that is really comfortable. It apparently popped out of the silicone adapter while I was washing my hands and went plop! into the sink. I quickly grabbed it out of the water and dabbed it off with a towel and then switched it off. After a little while switched it back on and all was fine.

This is not to say that the device is completely water proof, but it’s at least water resistant enough that it survived a 3 second drop into a 3 inch basin of water!

Wow!

I’m really glad that I’m not having to search for a replacement again today!
