It looks as though the recall is being detailed for the Sony cds that use the XCP Digital Rights Management copy protection. Sony has setup a page where customers can request an exchange. Sony will swap cds with DRM for cds without the DRM software. Also, Amazon.com is offering refunds through this link, they advise customers to list “defective as the reason for return.

This seems like a reasonable start to addressing the problem. There IS still the issue of the DRM software being on people’s PC’s, AND the issue that the uninstallers for both this and the other DRM method Sony uses have serious security flaws.

I’m still waiting for Sony to find a way to address those issues. Good job on the CD swap program though. I just hope they don’t forget the other “pesky problems” and think the CD swap “fixes” everything.
