OpenSuSE 10 beta 1 screenshots

Osdir.com is at it again with the screenshots…., this time there’s a lizard on the desktop. Yes, screenshots from openSuSe 10 beta 1. Just several days ago Novell announced that they were “opening” the SuSE Linux project and the first beta was not far behind.

Once again, very eye-candyish in spots. It’s worth noting that it is KDE heavy (SuSE has been a KDE distribution – contributing a large number of developers to the KDE project IIRC, but Novell has bought Ximian which has been a Gnome shop (No, the desktop environment gnome)). It looks as though they have a “network browsing” icon on the desktop, some well done “control panel-ish” administration (YaST).

One thing that I recall about SuSE is that although you could never get the current release without paying, what you could get (I tried out a livecd), was very nicely polished, looked GOOD and I’m thinking it may be time to get a test box together to play around with. It looks nice.
