Symantec, has fixed a problem with their SystemWorks and SystemWorks premier software that could allow malicious software to hide in the Norton Protected Recycle Bin. That software, could have used the nprotect directory to evade detection by antivirus and antispyware programs.
This really does start to drive home how system security can be undermined by a single well-meaning application and how important it is to keep up with security updates for ALL installed software on a system. (Not just the core OS.)
