Desktop Linux reported Friday that Thinkfree office has promoted their $49.95 office suite at LinuxWorld (last week.) This is Thinkfree Office 3. It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux. Supports Microsoft office file formats, has a Microsoft-Office-like interface and "critical feature compatibility".

Thinkfree Office features a Word Processor, Spreadsheet and graphic presentation component. Each module has a drawing component. It also boasts XML support, html and pdf support as well. It should be available by the end of August for download from their website.

Personally I think it's great to see other office suites available. I suspect each will find their niche. The key is compatible file formats and it looks like the de-facto standard of MS Office file formats is supported here. It would be nice to see support listed for OpenOffice formats. I think Oasis is the name for the format found in OpenOffice 2 and supported by Koffice as well.
