A few days back I mentioned that slashdot was posing questions to Bill Hilf, the manager of Microsoft's Linux lab. Today his responses are being posted.

Among the more interesting points, in general his role is helping Microsoft have a better understanding of Open Source software. They do report bugs and security problems they find to the softwares authors (so in a sense Microsoft takes part in the development of open source software.) It is also interesting to hear that Microsoft Executives are described as being technically curious (my paraphrase) about such things as software and have used alternatives from time to time.

It's an interesting interview and worth reading.
