Looks like Mandriva has released beta 3 in the release cycle for their 2006 release. There is a full review of the beta with plenty of screenshots and the changelog detailed at distroreviews.com. The news is just being posted on the main mandrivalinux site.

Judging by the release schedule on the Mandriva wiki this beta was about 8 days behind the planned release. There is scheduled to be one more release before final. (Will they call it beta 4 or Release Candidate 1?) It looks as though September 15th for the final may be a bit early, it's looking more like a late September release for Mandrake.... ummm Mandriva Linux (still getting used to that.)

Sounds like it's a very solid beta release. (I see comments at pclinuxonline that everything "just works".) It certainly sounds like a promising release for Mandriva Linux 2006.
