This will likely not last long, but according to this post at bit-tech.net, the author went to windows update to try to download directx on his linux machine just to see if it would work. (I assume he was using Internet Explorer running on wine.) The catch is, of course, Microsoft has started testing windowsupdate users to see if they have a legitimate version of Windows. Apparently wine passed with no tinkering. After looking at his screenshot I can't vouch that he used Explorer. Like I said though, I bet it won't work for long.
