Along about the time I mentioned a beta review of KDE 3.5 it looks as though the latest in the stable line, KDE 3.4.2 was released. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, KDE is one of many graphical user interface environments (desktop environments) in the Linux and *nix family of operating systems. It's essentially a bugfix release, what really caught my attention in the announcement was a link to a livecd to download and testdrive it.

The livecd is called klax I'm guessing it may be based on Slackware from the name. (And now that I see the page it is indeed based on Slax, which is slackwares livecd). It's a 330MB cd download. Once downloaded, burn the iso image to disc using your favorite cd burner (make sure that you choose to burn it as a disc image), then reboot from the cd. I remember there was a move to do livecds on the development branch, maybe I should look, it's a great way to try out a new version without having to install on your own system and have a hard time rolling back if need be.
