If AppleInsider is right, Apple has won around 1 million converts from Windows based pc's to Apple's platform in the past year. In part the transition is credited to the success of the ipod, although the prevalence of viruses and other malware on the windows platform is another motivating factor.


1 million in comparison to the already installed user-base out there, but I think this is encouraging news for Apple or really, ANY alternative platform. Show people that there is a way out of the current computer frustrations and many will test the waters. Time will tell if they'll ever return to a Windows OS. I suspect it might take quite a bit to get them to switch back though. Which reminds me, whatever happened to those "switch" commercials that Apple had?
