A virus writer talks….



Along the lines of “Wishlist of Spyware Slime” that I referred to last week, it appears there’s a chat transcript out from before the arrest of the suspected writer of the mytob and zotob worms. The security fix has the details.



Among other things there are mentions of a profit motive for writing the worms, the profit being mainly from the spyware that’s installed due to the lowering of security settings from the primary infection.

The person that took part in the chat with Diabl0 is with the University of Pennsylvania, received an email with a mytob attachment and worked to investigate tracking it to the IRC server that it registered and ultimately chatting with the author.

I particularly liked the following…

which was summarily rejected. You’ve got to try though….
