Migrating Web Applications from Explorer to Mozilla

One of my pet peeves is web sites that work with only one web browser. (Usually Internet Explorer) and break, sometimes badly with anything else. Recently I ran into this problem at a registrar. When I tried changing DNS data things did not work under Firefox and I had to visit the page with Explorer. IBM’s developer works site has A new article that should give some suggestions on making web applications work with Mozilla based browsers. One thing that I’ve found is that it’s not terribly difficult to make something work with multiple browsers. (Usually if you use Microsoft’s page building tools it’s more difficult, as they tend to really add in a bunch of MS only stuff.)

A summary from the article “Ever have trouble getting your Internet Explorer-specific Web applications to work with Mozilla? This article covers common issues associated with migrating applications to the open source Mozilla-based browser. You’ll first learn basic cross-browser development techniques, and then develop strategies for overcoming the differences between Mozilla and Internet Explorer.”

It’s a good read.
