Ok - so I've been looking at Google Talk all evening and thought I'd try it out. First, it will not run on Win98, only 2000, XP and 2003 are supported. It installs using crossover office (4.2) and starts. You get to see the main login screen. On any button click there is an internal error and the program vanishes.

I'll update more as I experiment more. I can't seem to get the installer to start using Cedaga (Winex) from transgaming. I'm currently looking at a rebuild of the source rpm of the 7/25/05 release of the winehq wine.

OK - I've got the 072505 package of wine installed. It installs and right now there's a stranded main window of the Google Talk client on the desktop. It's unresponsive at this point. I'll leave the thread open just in case anyone has got this running under wine. Maybe dll substitutions?

The most successful thus far has been using Crossover Office. (Main window is responsive, you can type in username and password, clicking login or any other buttons causes the program to crash out.)
