Profiteering and scams after Katrina
It’s worth warning that there will be a number of sham organizations and individuals looking to profit off the misery of others after the recent hurricane. The security fix has a posting on just that.
Katrinahelp.com, www.katrinadonations.com and www.katrinarelief.com appear suspect in his first writing. It’s importan to note that it’s worth investigating ANY charity before donating so that you can know how much of your donation gets to the affected people.
As I’ve mentioned the Red Cross is probably the best known legitimate organization. I also like to suggest Hearts with hands as a highly regarded organization that is based in North Carolina, and they do good work.
