Google adds more languages



Well, of course, you know that Google offers search services in a long list of languages. They can be found at the main Google page by going to the “Language tools” link to the right of the search box. It takes you to this page, which gives you the ability to search pages in a specific language, in a specific country (or combination of the two.)


They also give a list their of their supported languages and the main pages for the search engine in each of those. Well, now their total supported languages is 116. From the Google Blog…

Today we’re happy to announce the launch of Google in Cambodian, Corsican, Kazakh, Lingala, Pashto, Quechua, Shona, Tajik, Tatar, Tonga, and Yoruba. This launch raises the count of Google languages to 116.

They also note that they welcome translations to other lagnuages and already have translations for Swedish Chef, Hacker, and Klingon…. (Elmer Fudd, and pig latin are supported too.)

Odds are this might not intrigue you if you’re reading this in English, but I’ve always found various langauges to be interesting…
